We Will Have Lost
The woman on the radio said, "If we start doing that, we will have lost."

Her native language is French, but she said it in English, for the interviewer and the radio audience.

She lives near the restaurant that was decimated by the Paris attacks last week. Her daughter has decided to move to Israel where she, "feels safer," but this woman is staying.

They asked her about the Israeli policy of destroying the houses of family members of those who perpetrate attacks. Apparently the Israelis believe it is a deterrent.

It's hard to tell how much she thought about it - with a radio interview, they might have sped up her response - but her response was clear and firm,

"We will have lost."
